Today the Government set out its Command Paper outlining how the NI Protocol is not working in its current form or delivering on its objectives. They have identified that significant changes are needed to achieve a sustainable ‘new balance’ which puts UK-EU relationship on a stable footing. The Command Paper can be read here
The problems set out are wide ranging but once again TAWC have pointed out that the best way forward is to get a veterinary agreement, as it is the most straightforward way to remove the vast majority of checks and help both business continue and animal welfare standards be protected.
