Elected members have a role to play in improving animal welfare by raising it through committees and working groups and ensuring support and funding for their environmental teams. There are also opportunities to put forward motions or positions for the council to take in regards to animal welfare related issues such as use of fireworks, dog control, stray dogs, housing best practice, fly grazing.
